The GDSN Package Measurement Rules establish global standards that facilitate the measurement of linear dimensions and weights for retail and non-retail products from the consumer unit to the non-consumer level and all intermediate packaging levels in between.
The recent ratification of several change requests has created an update to the package measurement rules. The new document (Issue 1.8.1) was modified to include the following:
-
New measurement methods and rules for flexible packaging. Note: this change may impact the current measurements if these trade items.
-
Established tolerances for flexible packaging.
-
New measurement methods and rules for building materials.
The specific additions and changes include:
Section 4.4 Hanging Items
Section 4.5 Flexible Packaging
Section 4.9 Product Specific (Nursery Stock and Building Materials) Measurements
Section 6.2 Standard Tolerances for Non-Consumer Trade Items
Section 6.3 Standard Tolerances for Consumer Trade Items
